Vietnamese men arrested for growing marijuana.

Mondulkiri: Authorities in Mondulkiri province arrested two Vietnamese nationals who rented land in Mondulkiri province to grow marijuana in May Pai village, Pu Chrey commune, Pichreada district, Mondulkiri province on April 15, 2023.

Growing marijuana is illegal in Cambodia.

According to the report of Mondulkiri Provincial Police, the two Vietnamese suspects were named Nguyen Van Hoang, male, 32 years old, Vietnamese; resident of Wuy Ba Village, Thong Do Commune, Vinh District, Nga An Province, Vietnam, and the other was Fam Van Thai, male. 27-year-old Vietnamese national, residing in Wuy Ba village, Thong Do commune, Vinh district, Nga An province, Vietnam, holding passport number C2369263.

The Mondulkiri Provincial Police confiscated 10,671 marijuana plants weighing approximately 1,205kgs, 30 bags of chemical fertilizer, 27 bags of marijuana supplements, and 500 plastic cups of marijuana saplings, Vietnamese motorcycle license plate, three passports, ID cards and 42 other documents.

The two suspects are currently being held in custody to build a case to be sent to the Mondulkiri Provincial Court for further proceedings.
